Our tours are limited to a maximum of 8 travellers. This ensures a personal, intimate experience at every archaeological site, with direct access to your guide and flexibility to explore at your own pace.

Most of our tours involve moderate walking on uneven terrain at archaeological sites. You should be comfortable walking 3–5 km per day on surfaces like gravel, cobblestones, and occasional slopes. Specific tours like Eastern Turkey may involve more strenuous hiking — check individual tour pages for details.

Inclusions vary by itinerary. Each tour page lists its accommodation, transport, entrance fees, guiding and included meals. Domestic flights are included only where specified; international flights are not included.

Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–November) offer the most pleasant weather for touring archaeological sites. Summers can be very hot, especially in eastern Turkey. Our tour calendar is designed around the optimal seasons for each region.

Absolutely. In addition to our scheduled group tours, we offer fully customised private tours tailored to your interests, pace, and dates. Contact us with your preferences and we'll design a bespoke itinerary.

60+ days before departure: No cancellation charge. 30-59 days before departure: 40% of the total tour price. 2-29 days before departure: 60% of the total tour price. Less than 2 days before departure or no-show: 100% of the total tour price. Non-refundable third-party costs already incurred on your behalf (such as promotional flight tickets, visa fees and insurance premiums) are charged separately in every cancellation bracket, including 60+ days and no-shows.

A 25% deposit is due within 7 days of receiving your booking confirmation/invoice to secure your reservation. The remaining 75% is due no later than 60 days before your tour start date.

Australian ordinary passport holders do not need a visa for tourism or transit stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This exemption does not cover all passport types or purposes of travel. Check the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs guidance for your nationality and passport, and contact a Turkish embassy or consulate for other circumstances.

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends a passport valid for at least 6 months from arrival in Turkey. Its general entry rule requires validity for at least 60 days beyond the permitted duration of the visa, visa exemption or residence permit: for a 90-day exemption, that is 150 days of validity on entry. Check any separate airline and transit-country requirements before travel.

Smartraveller advises Australians to exercise a high degree of caution in Turkey overall, with higher advice levels in some regions. Read the current advisory, including its regional advice and map, before booking and again before departure. Discuss your planned route with us and check travel-insurance coverage; a guided tour does not remove travel risks.
